I was wandering about this the other day. My little one has now out grown the 5 point harness carseat which I have been using in my maverick. Now she has upgraded to the booster with back. Now this is the problem, the seat requires a shoulder strap but there are none. I have been forcing her into the old seat and she just won't fit anymore. She is 4 and weighs 40 pounds. I know that in NJ it is state law that a child under 12 or less then 80 lbs must be in a car seat. So I was just wandering what the rest of you have had to do in this case. I have already just sat her down in the back and buckled her in. But I don't want to push it and get in trouble. I read an article that a local woman was charged with endangerment of a child because he was not in a car seat at the time of an accident that she was not at falt for. So these things kind of make me worry. What happened to days like it was when I was kid. What was a seat belt?
I use one similar to this which only requires a lap belt http://www.elitecarseats.com/eddie-bauer-high-back-booster.shtml
Bring this thread back from the dead... Is there anyone who has ran accross an after-market kit to mount shoulder belts in the backseat of a Maverick? I've got two in boosters and would prefer shoulder belts back there even if they were big enough to be out of them.
There's plenty of them: http://www.google.com/search?q="rea...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a Personally, I would find a set that you like in a newer car and head off to the junkyard and adapt the system to your car. The factories didn't spend the money to develop the systems for no reason. Hope this helps, -Scott H.
Thanks, but I've seen the universal kits. I was looking for a Maverick specific kit, or info on how/where to install the top bracket on the universal kits. Just want to make sure it's solidly attached and not just attached to some thin sheet metal that the anchor might pull out of.
