Fox body style 4.25" pattern 4 lugPre-Fox body style 4.5" pattern 4 lugThe 88 Mustang pattern will not work for the 4 lug. This has bee a naggingproblem for those of us with the 4 lug pattern. There are many imports that have the proper spacing. Cragar, Centerlines, Wheels of Steel and others still make 4 lug rims with 4.5" pattern. Make sure you check the backspacing which is critical up front. Stock rims had a 3.5" backspacing. You can get away with slightly over 4", anything else will cause the tire to rub on the upper control arms.

I just rebuilt my suspension and put the laurel mountain upper control arms in. the guy on the phone said that they'd be find as long as I didn't try to go with too wide of a tire. I need new wheels and I'm trying to do 15x8's with a 4" backspace. Can I even pull this off without rubbing? I have a 1971 maverick. You're saying my car has to get rims with a 4.5" pattern (it's a 4 lug)? sorry, I've never bought rims before...

I know pinto/mustang 2 bolt pattern is the same as fox body and I assumed maverick were the same. My mistake
