Unless it's a posi. If so, lift both wheels and count driveshaft revolutions. ... don't divide by two.
ok, oooops! it was set at 4cyl . . . I set it at 8cyl and now much better. I got back from Bryan't shop and we put a 3.25 gear in there and with the tach set properly it reads 3000RPM at 70, pretty sweet.
Is it shifting into drive? The high revving and the hard shift into 2nd gear sound like there is something up with the vacuum modulator on the trans. Perhaps something is wrong with the modulator itself or the hose is disconnected or has a leak in it somewhere.
