I've decided to either sell my 77 Mav outright, or part it out. I've ordered a FFR Cobra kit, and very tempted to pull the engine (302) and tranny (C4) and use them in the Cobra kit (yes, an auto Cobra! The problem is, I've put lots of energy in the Mav. and I hate to see it junked or parted out.

What does a 77 4 dr Mav with auto sell for on the open market? It has Hooker headers, and I bought 3.55 gears for it, but they are not installed yet. I installed a B&M shifter a month ago. It has 55K original miles, which makes the engine a prime candidate to pull and use in the Cobra.

If I sell it, I'd buy a crate motor and TKO tranny for the Cobra with the proceeds. I don't think I can get enough out of the Mav to break even, and pulling the motor makes more sense.
The Mav is in great shape, with no body rust. But it's a 4 Dr, and not likely to be in high demand. A friend with a Cobra said, "what better way for the spirit of the Mav to live on, but to put it's heart into a screaming Cobra". He has a point, but....

You folks have made me a loyal fan of the Mav, but the wife and I feel the Cobra is a better long term project for both of us to enjoy. Any suggestions/offers?

Is this a beater, or a nice car?

If a beater, I would say:
It is all basically down to what you can do. If you have room, and can, I would suggest parting it out because you can get more for parts than selling as a whole. If you just want to get rid of it with no inconvenience to you, sell it complete and let someone else worry about it.

If it's nice - sell it complete.

Corbin, this is a nice car, with no body rust, clean interior, and all the rubber products have been replaced (no dry-rot). Car has 55K on it, and I've upgraded the motor to 4 v Edelbrock manifold & carb. I was about to install the headers and change the rear to 3.55 and powertrax locker when the wife said, "let's build the Cobra instead".

The motor & Trans are exactly what I need for the Cobra, and they cost me nothing. Problem is, what do I do with the rest of the Mav? Part it out, or sell it to somebody in this group that may want to finish what I started?

I can return the rear gears and locker to Jegs since they are still in the boxes. Headers will go up for sale either here or E-bay.

The other choice is: Anybody want to trade a good 351W and trans for a complete 77 Mav 4 dr 302 C4?

No cracks, no chips, but some scum on the inside drivers side. I tried to rub it out, but didn't have the right stuff. Windex didn't cut it. I'll try again this weekend. Reply next week for status.

A white "fog" is starting at the bottom of the windshield, but to be expected after 27 yrs.

if you decide to part it out, I could use the v8 frame mounts, cross bar, and the tranny mount

Do you still have the discs, we would like to convert the 73 to discs in front.
