I just found out that one of my wife's high school friends sells classic car insurance, so I got a quote and it was so reasonable I purchased it. This will only work if your car is not an every day driver and is garage kept and is just driven occasionally or to shows etc. Even if you race it now and then they will still insure you, but there will be an exclusion in your policy for when you are at the track. If anyone is interested in more info, just send me a pm and I will forward you the contact info. This does not help me in any way...just trying to help out the wife's friend.
Mine is through Silver Wheels up here. Lant insurance is the broker and they are great to deal with. Its based on the appraisal amount. 110 dollars a year for a 10000 dollar aprr. if memory serves. Its really cheap to insure an old car if you meet the specifics. My state farm agent directed me to them since a state farm policy would be a normal type policy at around 80 dollars a month.
Sounds reasonable, I was going to suggest if significantly higher to just get regular insurance and ask that they include that you have first salvage rights. Meaning they pay you the normal low "book" value of car and if ever totaled you can purchase it back for their normal salvage value. with the costs of some of these parts you could rebuild, sell off parts or do whatever you wanted with the car.
Insurance I use State Farm, where I have my real cars for my Mav and 76 F-150, it costs $38 each every 6 months. Texasjack
I also use State Farm and they just got a very relaxed and easy way to insure old cars. I wont state my rate, but it is certainly a great value. And it is an agreed value contract.
