basically im in some serious need of some ideas of where to start on my 203.... im a broke ass so nothing too big just some minor tweaking???
It's a 200. Not much you can do to them that's cheap, but if you still have points, electronic ignition such as duraspark or pertronix is a good starting point that will yield noticeable results.
If you are broke, I suggest getting everything together for a 302 swap. Messing around with the 200 engines is not a cheap way to go. But for starters, like Jamie said, upgrading the ignition would be a great thing to start off with. After that, you can go with exhaust upgrades followed by either a 2v carb conversion or getting one of the reengineered Autolite 1100 1v carbs from Pony Carburetors. thanks for the info im really not that broke but i cant spend grands lol but instead of a 302 i was poss thinking a 351 or would that be a bad idear???? haha my pops has some connections for engines so i kinda wanted to do omething big with this car since im buying a tuner for my daily driver.... the car only has 51k miles so id like it to be my first show car....im about to primer it tomorrow and paint it next week and ideas on colors from anyone i was gunna do black bc i have a gal of it already but i was kinda thinkin like a crazy orange or something... oh and does anyone have the link for that ignition cuz im not the brightest kid on here haha..
hahaha i promise i may be a kid but im not an idiot like most younguns i might actually be buying a hatch civic and i still wont do that to it.... i like simplicity not like some of these doods with 6 inch effing exhaust and 20's thats gay...haha
yeah me either im just getting one cause they get better gas milege.. my old honda got abot 47-50 per gallon and i got it for free from my chiropractor lol
With a 351 you'd be wanting to shave the shock towers to make doing plug changes and headers nicer (I considered it after changing my plugs without having a u-joint for the socket to go on with my 302). My next Mav/Comet will probably be a 6 cyl, I've always wanted to do a hot-rodded 6.
Sure, but I'd rather have a stroked 302, smaller package that I know fits. 351W's are larger physically than a 302, not just in displacement.
If it's going to be a show car, I suggest sticking with the 6 engine since it would get lots of looks, especially if you do some really crazy things to it. Look at the video in this topic I made a while back about the Ford Six to get an idea of what would turn heads at a car show. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=57372
