I guess people think if they are clever, they can fool someone. Look at this CL auction for a '77 Mav. in Texas. Seems a pretty reasonable price for a clean car. Now check out all the pics. What do the pictures reveal about the car? Chris http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/1417152490.html
Also not a 'standard', I see only two pedals, brake and gas, no clutch. But that door jamb sure is an eyesore. Sure looks clean though. rk
Wait a minute, I revise my first impression. That one pic with the door jamb is NOT the same car. Check out the steering wheel, both are two spoke, but one is a deluxe bent spoke the other is a non-deluxe two spoke. Also note the pedals from the passenger side pic, looks like there might be THREE pedals in that one. Appears some body might have two cars or confused the pics and added the wrong one, the driver's door pic with deluxe wheel and only two pedals. Check it for yourself, carefully. Might just be an awesome daily driver with manual discs and a thrifty six! rk
Door jamb is mismatched, carpet is rusty, not a stick shift, interior shots are for two different cars...
Hey this is fun!! The one pic with the deluxe wheel is also an A/C car, not the center vent!! This is looking more like a keeper all the time with a great price to boot!! This is like the pics in the Sunday paper, find the differences!!! rk
Nice work folks. I immediately picked out the door jamb color, missing vent, different pedals, and different steering wheel. A bit misleading if you blast over the pics quickly. Not sure if the guy is trying to hide something....I sent him a message and asked. Maybe I need to "duck"... Chris
So, I wrote to the guy, asking him about the photos. Here is what I asked: Your interior shots are from two different cars. Which shot is accurate? I assume the bottom one (shows standard pedals, proper door jamb color, different steering wheel, lack of A/C vents on dash). Here is his exact response, unedited, for your enjoyment: BOTH PICTURES ARE FROM THE SAME CAR , I ONLY HAVE ONE. BUT, IT DOES NOT MATTER IT IS ALREADY SOLD. Yup. Working a deal to buy some land from him. One picture has a nice, quiet view of a bay, with seagulls, trees and vast shoreline on the other side. The other picture has what looks like a robed lady holding a torch, and a LOT of tall buildings forming an urban skyline. This is the same beachfront property, so I am told. I am sending a down payment via Western Union tonite. Morons - they're out there. Chris
You seem to find them questionable ones Chris. Let me know if you really ever want to buy some beach front property. I see two different color inspection/tag stickers. This is an old Texas game we beena playin for years. We used to have phone books covered like this, where you would find all kindsa stuff.
I just sent an email as well: Gave it the ol' "benefit of a doubt" wording. Can't wait to see the response.
