..unless you slam it with brute force, i think i may have put a slight indentation in the deck lid. Too dark to go check, but does anyone know if i can adjust the latch at all?
yea same problem I had a few days ago. Just unbolt the 3 nuts on the bottom latch and push it up a bit. Also, once you **** the lid and leave it down for a few days you'll be surprised how much easier it'll shut.
I don't have a pic now. I'll snap some at work tomorrow. I used to 3M adhesive but I got the wrong color adhesive so on some spots you can see a little yellow. No biggy, sealed up really well.
The biggest issue with the trunk rubber is, the reproduced ones, do not have any holes in them to let the air trapped inside escape. If you look at the factory seal, it will have a few small holes, punched in the gasket. It's been discussed before. But the trunk latch adjustment is the best way to resolve the issue.
That...and as stated above. Get it closed and forget it for a month or so. It will compress and get much easier with a little time.
Mine took a just under a year before I could stop slamming it. We adjusted the latch in 2 stages over time to crush the strip without having to slam the trunk too hard. My trunk lid finally lines up when closed. Make sure you have the little slam bumpers installed as well. I forgot to order them with my rubber kit but turns out Caliber door stops are the perfect size. Oops the factory forgot them on that new Caliber i PDI'd.
I raised the latch. it latches and un-latches perfectly now. I also used the yellow adhesive, its good stuff.. i always wondered about the holes ..interesting. thanks guys. i will get some pics up tomorrow if the weather allows
I get massive amounts of Exhaust fumes while driving.. and thats with the windows down..lol.. the exhaust goes all the way to the rear..
