Nice score and welcome to the board. Always nice to see another Comet.

Ranger and Explorer rims use the same bolt pattern as Mavs and Comets. (any bigger Ford like an Expedition uses the larger truck bolt pattern). The center hole should clear disc brakes hubs as well. They are pretty neutral as far as offset goes, like the original wheels, and ought to be OK as long as you don't go hog wild on tire size. Our cars tend to rub tires inboard on the rear springs sooner than rubbing the fenders if you have a wheel with little offset. Most of them are 15x7s, some newer ones are 16x7s. A lot of Explorer got traded in for Cash for Clunkers, a lot of them in the yards right now.

    Here is a 16x7 ...

Here are the rims I want to get for my Explorer ... 15x7 ...
I don't think they would look so good on a car though ...

I have seen these earlier wheels shown below used on Mavs and other Ford cars and they look good. Get rid of the big ugly
center cap. The centers are like the one above. Need to come up with a small cap and the leave
the bolts exposed and they look pretty good. 15x7s

As a sidenote ... if you try to use a lot of the later Ford car rims like what come on Mustangs, etc, many of them push the tire too far inboard. The mounting surfaces are very close to the outer edge and do not work well on an earlier car without using a wider rear axle, and spacers on the front.

Those first rims in the 16" x 7" are not bad at all, thanks for the info an the wheels, just what I was looking for.

Again I will get a few pics this weekend with camera to document the progress.
