The 6-71 will give just as much or more power than the 174 at a slower rotor speed (wont heat the air as much). But it wont fit under the hood and there are several other issues (Extra carb, Linkage, ect). But i do want to caution you DETONATION is a Blower motors worst enemy. This should be your most concern. Avoid it at all costs or it will cost. Saw many good motors destroyed because of it.

It seems as thought the 6AL-2 is programmable. I couldn't find much about it on their website, there is a little PDF they have, I'll read through that and see if this might be the right unit for me.

talked to the MSD dude on the phone, dang, the 6AL-2 might be just what I'm looking for. Programmable with a laptop, all I need is a serial to USB cable.

Not knocking on anyone. But when i started in the forced induction field, I couldn't get answers ( or pictures) from anyone. Either they couldn't answer my questions or wouldn't. I'm going to say it was 50/50. So i vowed if i ever learned anything about forced induction i would share at no cost. Whether he listens or not will be up to him.( i have saw several motors end in the scrap pile, From not listening) But if i could have found someone with 15 + years experience with Blowers i surely would have listened. And i will agree he does need to do more research for himself other than just asking specific questions here. But at least he is asking.

would I be able to mount the MSD box in the trunk area or is that not recommended. Ideally I'd move everything back there, the battery, started solenoid and MSD but I'm worried it's gonna be a very wirey mess.

so there's 2 6AL-2's apparently one is programmable and one is not. The one that's programmable is the 6530 model and it's going for like $410.

It can be mounted in the trunk, However i would mount it on a big piece of aluminum. Such as the side of a aluminum battery box, It helps with heat dissipation.

$427 total. Got the 2bar map sensor and the ignition box. I was going to order the coil and wires but I wanted to see if you guys recommend upgrading those or just sticking with my current stuff. The coil is an aftermarket coil, not sure what kind. Wires are stock.

i know it some times seem like companys keep recomending stuff to fleece you but agree get the coil thats is designed for the box that MSD used when r&d it and you will be happier

as for wires i like taylor but the 300+ seems good as well and MSD wires arent junk either

becides the accel 300+ wires being really good (know from a race team dyno testing all different wires), the accel wires have a life time warntee. ive used it several times and have never had a problem geting them warnteed

ok, will order the accel wires. . . the coil they recommended were:

The HVC-2 was highly recommended but it's $200, is that sound right?
The other one he said would be ok to use Street Blaster Coil $50

the street blaster coil should work just fine. i doubt you would see a difference between the two.

thanks for that. saved me $150. hey, which of the accel do I need, a bunch to choose from. I think I pretty much have everything I need. Maybe we can install it next week some time. I'm hoping to put it in the trunk ideally, I know you say the cabin is better . . . either way.
