Do I need to lube the gaskett or anything? Will I be stretching it over the edges? When actualy installing the glass will the gaskett go in the opening first or on the glass?
i need to do my front windshield where can i get the seal cheap ?? post pic's if you can on how you did this install

I would wait until I got ready to install the windshield just in case I needed to remove the rubber to put sealer between the rubber and glass. Also the seal will be putting unneeded pressure around the edge of the glass and it might crack. In other words put the rubber seal back in the bag and step away slowly.
The seal is put around the windshield first. As added measure, you can apply a touch of windshield sealant to the inside channel of the seal (the part that hugs the windshield) to guard against leaks. You then put windshield sealant around the windshield opening of the car. You then take a piece of string and wrap it around the seal with a good overlap at the bottom. Then with you and a buddy, drop the assembly into the frame trying not to get a bunch of sealant on the thick inside part of the gasket. Once the thick part of the gasket has been dropped inside the windshield frame, locate your string ends at the bottom of the windshield and slowly pull them toward you to pop the inner part of the gasket through the windshield frame. There is a no cheap gasket for this vehicle. The only gasket I've seen for this vehicle is going on ebay for $60 plus shipping. And they have the gall to charge $15 to ship it. I checked my local windshield place and they told me they couldn't even get the gasket anymore. So....Since it appears only one company makes then, plan to spend $70-75 for the gasket. If you get a quote from a glass company make sure it includes the gasket. They usually don't replace gaskets on most cars when they replace the windshield so it isn't likely included in the quote. DUDE! Don't say crack! . I am not wanting to install at this time. I just need it in place to have it somewhere other than the spare bed room. Anywhere else would be dangerous. I was under the impression that it just sits around the glass without pulling on it.
You can mail it to me and I'll hold it I think the rubber is more likely to stretch over time then cracking the glass...considering your gasket has been on your car for 30+ years and havent cracked it yet from the pressure.
It doesn't "just sit"...It should be a very tight fit. You need to pull hard to get it around the glass. Without the cars channel to keep it it from bowing it could squeeze too tight on the glass and any undue stress or shock could have unwanted results.
