Pretty cheap and popular way (assuming that isn't a knock off) to lock the rear end. Have one on my Ranger's 8.8 rear end. Gives me great traction off road and a little more than I'd like on the pavement. Sharp turns and corners cause it to lock and I can hear the tires chewing up the road. Tire wear I imagine is accelerated. Also, the manual transmission shifts are jerky if I don't match the revs just right... Near about have to drive it like an unsyncro'd tranny to shift smoothly (a non issue if you have an auto trans).

All in all it's worth it to me. About the cheapest way to lay out even power to the ground.

Also, Ive heard rumors of failure in either high power or big tire/off road situations. Might be something to research... Especially if you take your car to the track.

I had a Detroit Soft locker in my last car, very similar to this unit. I really liked it with the exception of the fact that it had a little play in it, it would move about 6 inches before gears locked up, install instructions stated that it would. No special additives needed just some good ol 90 weight

It always locked up but at the strip you had to keep the rpms up and keep pressure to it or you would have that 6 inches of free play before it took off. Was not nearly as clunky as a true Detroit locker in the noise department. I would buy another one

i love em.my wife installed it in about an hour and she's never worked on a rear axle before.put in a new pin in if yours is worn.after i blew up the first one when she put in the second i shimmed the springs about an 1/8th inch to put a little more preload on it.watch the throttle on turns until you get used to it.

the one pictured is the 495.95 one. the 294.95 one only replaces the spider gears and uses the stock side gears.

this is a locker, not a posi. they function differently. the locker literaly locks the axles togther when power is applyed. the posi has pressure applyed between the side gears and the case to give a resistance to the spider/side gears so the power flow wont just travle the path of lease resistance.
