Been searching through the threads for wheel/tire sizes for my 72 Comet GT. I will go with magnum 500's and want to run a 15X7 inch rim with the same size tire all the way around. Would 235/60/15 be best? Does anyone have pics of what these would look like on our cars?

But I also like Columbus Comet's car and he is running 15X7 215/70/15 front and 15X8 255/60/15 rear. Decisions decisions

255/60r15 rubs on mine at the outer fender on hard launches.

It all depends on the backspacing.

Scooper what's your back spacing? Columbus Comet is running 4 1/2.

When you get really close to stuffing a car full of tire, tire brands make a big difference. I am running Magnums ... stock Ford 15x7s in the front, and custom 15x8s in the back from Wheel Vintiques. I have 265/50s on the back that are made by Cooper, and have to run a 1/4" spacer so that it does not rub inboard on the upper wheelwell when turning on an inclined driveway. Coopers tend to run small for the given size. A friend has 245/60 BFGs on his Mav. BFGs as a brand seem to run a bit large. My tires are only 1/4" wider than his ... if sizing was accurate between brands, that should be more than 3/4".

Most tire companies have a chart showing accurate tire sizing, and that is really the way to be totally sure if you are going to really stuff a car full of tire.... that, and actually measuring your car on both sides ... they vary. Manufacturing standards were a bit sloppy back then.

All that being said ... if running stock offset 15x7 Magnums, 245s tend to be the upper limit and they will be close to the leaf spring. If you go with about 3/4" additional, it will center the tire better and you should be able to squeeze a bit more in there.
