I put in an edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor a while back but I'm faced with a problem. The linkage hits the valve covers, so we put a spacer under the carburetor. Now the carburetor hits the roof. I don't want to cut my hood or change it (I hate cowl hoods and I don't have the kind of cash to get one and then paint it!) so I was wondering if there were any valve covers that would slant about an inch or so to the side from stock? My neighbor says they make a pair like the boss/cleveland valve covers but I can't find any. I guess I'm asking if you can bolt 302c valve covers up to a 302w or if there are valve covers with a similar design. Can anyone help?
So then the EFI valve covers from the 80s will work? I thought they wouldn't cause they only have the hole on one valve cover?
i have not seen any carb linkage combinations that can hit the valve cover. a pic will help or a beter more detailed description. also do you have a drop base air cleaner or a flat one.
x2!! I dont see how its possible. I was running a 4160 with 1 inch spacer and 14 x 4 air cleaner with tall valve covers and it fit under the stock hood.
I would say go with a drop air cleaner base, but what part of it is hitting, is it just the stud in the middle or the whole assembly? Because that is pretty much the setup I am running now, a 625 cfm carter on a 1" spacer on a edelbrock performer intake, using a moroso drop air cleaner that even clears the thermatic choke.
:Handshake I’d like to see pics too! Only because if I remember right this was a pretty nice car and Maverick or Comet sightings are rare to none in here Utah. I’m beginning to think I’ll see Bigfoot before I see another Maverick or Comet pass, park near me, of pass me.
My carb linkage hit my maverick valve covers,I had to put a one inch spacer under my edelbrock carb....The hood shuts fine....
