What is the cheapest easiest way to switch to electronic ignition?
Any suggestions as to which junkyard vehicles I can loot this from to make my Comet less Disco and more METAL?

I saw some of these on Ebay. Seems simple enough. Has anyone here tried one?

lots of people run the petronics unit with great results... and super simple to install, and you dont even have to remove the dizzy

a duraspark dizzy, wiring and brain box will probably cost you $20+ in a boneyard but there's a little more to the install (dizzy swap, some wiring, etc..)

Cheapest Pertronix I can find is $60. Not awful considering how much better they make the car run.

I will not buy anything from Procomp again. The Chevy style cap maybe big, but seeing how it has chevy parts in it, that will make it cheap. You can also get replacement parts anywhere.

i can say to not switch to the mallory Uni Lite. other mallory style may or may not be good but that uni lite style is what runs in my 390. the dizzy is mostly reliable, but the uni lite module itself goes bad with very little abuse. i have triple checked the wiring and replaced the recommended resistor unit twice to try and stop it from frying them. meanwhile the stock style dizzy in the grabber with pertronix has given me no issue... also my sons stock style ford duraspark has been fine as well...

I've been left stranded twice thanks to Pertronix. Never again. Duraspark has never gave me an issue. I've ran my Duraspark II distributor with the stock box, a GM HEI module, and now an MSD 6AL, and it still works great.

I'm unsure to whether or not my mechanical ability is up to installing a new dizzy and all the wiring involved with a Dura Spark system.
Does anyone have a picture of all the components I'd need to get off a doner car?
    Wires, parts, plugs etc.

It's super easy. Just get the distributor, coil, control box and plug wires (if you decide to go with the larger cap distributor). The wire connections are super easy, there are two plugs coming out of the control box, one of which has a green, purple, black and orange wire. Just connect the orange, purple and black wires to the matching colors on the distributor plug, the green wire goes to the negative side of the coil. Then just hook the red wire on the other plug coming out of the module up to a switched 12v source. Ready to run.
