I just wanted to say that I successfully removed the stainless trim from the drip rail and door, from a parts car that I scored. The trim was in super condition and I was really nervous, cause all I've ever heard was don't attempt it cause you'll ruin it. I'm very happy, and I just wanted to share my victory.(y):yup:;)

Yep I was really happy when mine all came off perfect. That is until we started to put it back on. It makes removal seem easy. After putting it back on the doors I decided to leave it off the drip rails. The factory has a dusting of paint on the car where the trim snaps on. I found with my car that the new paint was to thick and the trim cleaned the paint off on install. Loaded the trim with lithium grease as well as the door so no worries but I didnt want the risk of rust on the drip rails. If I did it again I would tape off the drip rails and the door frame after the first coat.

We used a piece of maple cut like a chisel and a hammer to remove.

I used an old bottle cap opener. I wrapped it with some paint masking tape, used a small screwdriver to hold it up while I moved to the next spot. A little patience and bravo;)

Darren thats VERY good information that I will use when the time comes. I honestly would'nt have given it much thought but, it makes sense when you think about it. Thank you for the advice, its very much appreciated!!!:yup: Bossed
