The tailshaft and shifter on mine does NOT look like that. It looks like the first picture you posted.

I am 99% sure that is the ticket... Do you happen to know if they sell aftermarket shifter for that Tranny, and is this a picture of an SROD and what does SROD stand for?? I am assuming it is SR(Over Drive) but what is the SR stand for??

Thanks, Now all I have to do is find someone that want the damn thing and find someone that has a reasonably priced (LOL :rofl2:) Top loader and I will be in bussiness...

Damn that is dissapointing, I really like the gearing on this tranny too. I would actually pay to have it rebuilt and keep it if I could get a nice shifter for it but it looks like they don't make and aftermarket shifter for the dang thing.... Other then it being a bit weaker then the
"True/Real Toploader" I don't know why it isn't a more popular tranny. The gearing int his Tranny would allow a steeper rear gear ratio and still get decent gas mileage. With some help I was figuring it out and with the RPMs I am turning now with the 3.00:1 rear gears and the tranny geared the way it is I would have been able to go with 3.55:1 or 3.7?:1 rear gears and that would have given me a great setup for the 1/4 mile and still been taching low enough in 4th gear on the street to get decent gas mileage.. Best of both worlds IMHO. But without being able to get a decent shifter I can't justify keep that tranny and having the tranny rebuilt and be stuck with a ****ty shifter.

    Back to the drawing board
