    Let me know your thoughts.

I had no heat so I was running the car with no rad cap. sure enough some bubbles came out and I had heat again. But the antifreeze was very frothy. I assume that means lots of air in the system but since it had been running for 15 minutes. that froth should have been done. Somewhere, it appears I am getting air into the system. Any place else that could be besides a head gasket? Tell me there is/

Sounds like the heater core is blocked its time to replace it. It could also, be the thermosat stuck open.

It could have had an air pocket in the heater core and you're still getting the remnants of the air out of it. That's the best case scenario. The worst is just what you're fearing, a blown gasket.

I would let it run for a while and keep checking it. If it clears up and keeps heat, you're golden. If not, well.... you know what happens then.

Check the oil before and after you drive it again, make sure it dosen't look milky.

I got a kit from NAPA that you put over the open radiator neck with a purple liquid in it. (Looks a little like a turkey baster) You pump it a couple of times and the one way valve sucks the fumes from the radiator. If the liquid changes color, you have a blown head gasket. I'll try and get the PN on it later. I think they rent them to.

on my car i put a flushing tee in the heater hose at the highest point.when i fill the motor i leave the cap off till coolant comes out. this seems to really help with keeping air out of the system and is a cheap thing to do.

I took it for a short drive today. The oil is not cloudy or foamy before or after. (that's good). I did have heat after the thermostat opened.(that's good). There was no foam in the coolant. (That's good) After I put the cap back on, there was a little foam but it wasn't frothing out the neck like yesterday. (that's good but inconclusive). I guess i'll just drive it and keep an eagle eye on it. Thanks for the help.

Just a thought bob. Have you tested the radiator cap. It may not be sealing or holding pressure. There is a test kit for doing that. Or if it's an old cap, there cheap.:)

It's a new cap. It's been too cold here to do anything. When we get a warm spell, I'll get back to it.

The foam might be due to the type of water you used. Doesn't sound to me like you've got any problems here.
