Cool! I wonder what was causing it? Maybe the gremlin got bored or figured he'd come back some other day.

Actually bryant and mashori are the same person. Bryant is the genius and mashori just knows how to spell the word maverick.

bad news . . . I went to tighten the steering wheel down, I guess I hadn't fully tightened it down and as soon as I started driving it and it would spark and shut off. What's interesting is there is no sparking no matter how much I turn the wheel but when in Drive or Reverse and I turn the wheel it sparks and shuts off.

so now figure out what gets clamped down on when you tighten it down. maybe there needs to be a thin spacer between the steering wheel and the land that it sits on.

yea my thoughts exactly. at this time my theory is that those metal springs get pushed too far down and the base touches the housing. I loosed it up a bit so I can drive it around. I'm gonna cut the horn wires in the wiring harness and tighten the steering wheel all the way back down and see what happens. If that works then I'll figure out how to put a spacer in there.

Aaaaand if all that fails . . . Flaming River!

perhaps you should go with a full chrome interior to match your new chrome colum.:stirthepot:

No need to cut any wires. You can adjust the column down with the bolts that hold the column to the dash. The column will move but the steering wheel will always be at the end of the shaft.

Ok that would be really great because I think that would solve my problem! U are referring to the bolts that hold up the column? I'm gonna mess around with that tomorrow.

This is a little frustrating. I know I shouldn't get frustrated but I wasn't able to adjust the column. I took the whole thing apart again and put some tape down on area where I thought there might be some sparking but didn't work. Then I cut the horn wires like Gene suggested and that didn't work. I have a pic of the steering column bolts which I'll post later and maybe someone can tell me how to adjust the column.
