When i start my car it runs fine after it warms up and starts up the first time. It is fine till you hit about 40 mph and then loses power, if you let off the accelerator it gets power again but after it loses power the first and you get back on the gas it loses it again no matter what speed. Do yall have any suggestions on how to fix this? thanks
I changed the front one, but im not sure if or how about replacing the one closest to the unit. This is what im working with
Its the fuel pump. I know i have never seen one before, it came off of a drag car before the mechanic put it on mine but i have no ideal! Its differnet than anything i have seen before!
Its a 302 with a mild cam, some headers, 4 barrel carb, and air gap intake. I would think maybe it wass getting to much fuel but it ran fine for at least 2 months after he put it on. Any ideals?
Replace the screw-in filter at the pump and then see if it gets better. If not it might be the filter sock in the tank (on the sender tube).
had a similar problem with a rusty gas tank... is your gas coming out clear? you've got some knowledgeable folk helping u already tho.
Just a shot in the dark...and I may be wayyyy wrong with this.....but if you have all of those performance things and have a catalytic converter your engine may be getting too much back pressure if the converter is clogged...I know that happened to me with my shelby charger at one point...it would get to about 50-60 then bog down like it had no power...gutted the cat and it worked fine after that (nvm just saw you have a 71....so ignore this post....lol)
if u search for thread started by me u can read the problems I was having a couple of months ago and see if they sound like what's going on with you. warning: you may come across many a silly or worthless thread lol.
