What kind of cars are in your neighborhood or on your block? Back in the day when my '74 Grabber was new, the people next door had a '72 grabber green Maverick Grabber. They also had a '69 XL. On our block there was a '69 Mustang convertable,'69 Chevelle SS 396 '70 Mach 1, a '69 Mustang coupe! I used to watch these guys burn rubber often. That's how they said hi to each other! No wonder I am the way I am!! Today, the people next door to us have a '76 Comet two door! Its a 250cid automatic with air and power steering and radio delete option. It's red and is in excellent condition with low miles. It is all stock and they rarely drive it. I ask him at least once a year if he would sell it to me. He says it is not for sale and if he should die it will go to a family member. He is older and not interested in clubs or car shows. The odds of having a Comet or Maverick next door today have got to be high! When driving down the street in summertime you my sometimes see a pretty sight if our garage doors are both open. Mabe this summer I will take some pictures. For now it is snowing heavy!
Neighbors got a 74 nova 408 stroker, 50s chevy pickup, 66 dart, 74 f500 or something (BIG TRUCK!!) and a bunch of tractors Guy up the street has a 50 chevy truck and thats about it. Now if we are talking about the town i live in........ 71 camaro yellow and black, 69 camaro 302 clone blue and white, Duster, red 440 cuda, 78 t.a., yellow 383 roadrunner, 95 s10 327, Silver 71 nova, black yenko nova clone, 70 sattilite, and a bunch more i havent seen in a while.
People in my neighborhood are too snooty for older cars. I'm probably the only person in the neighborhood with a car made before 2000.
The guy who accidentally had my nitrous kit delivered to him has the fastest car in the county (according to our 1/8 track). Late model Firebird, 4-oh-something with a supercharger. Then a forum member who hasn't posted in several months, or were it years, has 3 or 4 mavericks, depending on how you count them. But I am still "the guy with the Maverick" in these parts.
A guy down the street has an early '60s Falcon 4-door, a '64-'65 Falcon Sprint and an electric VW Bug that he built. My next door neighbor has 2 '57 Chevys in his garage that will probably never come out on their own power and further up the street a guy has a early '70 s Chevelle. And then there's our '79 T/A sharing garage space with my Maverick. Bruce
i live out in the country of Chesapeake but my friend's dad has a 69 camero with a big block and my boss down the wrong has a 29 model A, ford 52 f100 and is now restoring a 29 la france fire truck which is huge. ive been helping him restore it. and ive been restoring my dads 66 mustang convertible and then my 72 maverick
Well my neighbor to the right has a old Bronco half cab. then his neighbor to the right has a 72 mach 1 a 72 mustang coupe and a 69 charger 440 4 speed. To my left is a man with a 1968 GTX 1968 Road runner,69 barracuda,a duster, and a couple other mopars. my neighbor behind my has a 74 corvette in her garage that hasn't been drivin in 18 years. Dowen the street is a 1968 Firebird and a 1972 AMC Javelin My dad has a 1967 SS 396 Camaro and my 72 grabber is on this block.
http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=53956&highlight=neighborhood Plus, there are is a 1974ish Dodge Dart that is daily driven by a 21 year old from down the block. One of my neighbors son's has a buddy that drives a black 1970ish Cadillac coupe.
There's a guy in my neighborhood that has an all white '57 2 dr sedan; I can hear him coming whenever he's out and about. Neat thing is, I did a frame-off on a '57 hdtp years back, so it's treat to see his. Better yet, he stops by occasionally as he is fascinated by the level of work I am throwing into my Pinto. Classic cars are cool!! Chris
All late model imports with the exception of my Maverick and the Buick collector across the street. He has 4 crappy V-6 powered junkers and an 87 Grand National that is heavily tweaked and just sits in the garage.
