Does anyone have a Lentech Automatics trans in their Maverick or Comet ? Is it AOD or C4 and how well does it perform ?

    Yup

I have a lentech, and I like it. It's an AOD, that's all they do is AOD's. I changed my rear end gear from a 2:79 to a 3:70 so that is why I changed from my C-4 to the AOD, so that I can drive it at highway speeds. I like it, it beats driving around at 45-55 mph!

Hey Mavtricks, if you don't mind me asking, what did your built up AOD cost? I have heard they are expensive, but how expensive? I want to do an AOD behind a 351W in my 70 Grabber, and I need it to be a good, snorty, strong tranny for the street. I want it to be strong enough for occasional strip time and won't shatter when you get on it on the street. I am assuming his is somewhat similar to what you have in your car, which is why I asked. You can P.M. me if you would like. Thanks very much.

    Thanks Richard,
I'll have to give him a buzz sometime and just talk. Thank you very much for letting me know, and for talking to him about this! :) I'll keep that figure and trans choice in mind. I don't have the money for it now, or even the 351 yet, but I wanted an idea about how much dough I'll need to save up.

P.S. My goal is about 400-450 HP, and I'll have a decent cam in it (nice lopeing idle - but not too crazy :) ) The reason I want the AOD is for the OD so that it will also be a nice cruizer at freeway speeds.

I love my Strip Terminator set up (in my '89 rustang). Unfortunately, I'm having to deal with locating an "OD Delete Solenoid". At this point in time, I have no idea what it is, exactly. I recently installed this tranny that I had from a previous Street/Strip Mustang (and can't find the d@mned solenoid thingy in my trashed garage or attic).

Maybe Len (or someone) can point me to a part no. : please: (I'll email Lentech also but am not expecting as quick of a reply).

FWIW, it uses a toggle switch to lockout overdrive. 'Came in handy for nitrous use (meaning that when I turned overdrive on, it turned the nitrous off - saving the overdrive, which cannot take nitrous). I do not have a nitrous setup in this particular mustang.

    Aod

I paid about $2500 for my street terminator plus with flywheel. I like it. The only word of caution I have is that header clearance is an issure. My super comps angled in right into the side of the oil pan. I tried Headman, and they didn't clear the slave cylinder even with the drop mount I have on the car. Same goes for Hooker comp headers. If your not running power steering Hooker comps or Headman should work. I think one of those are what my Dad has on his car. I didn't want to give up my PS, so I just got through getting my Super comps modified to fit. Very time consuming and costly but still cheaper than a custom set I would think. And of course that is your other option, cutom headers.
