Hey Scooper. If you drop a 3000ish stall in before you go I will guess that you will run a 11.50-11.70. The reason I figure this is.......when I put a 100 shot on my 306 I went from running 13.50 to 12.60's. Just about a full second. Also this was on m/t et street radials. I had to lauch first then hit the juice so it wouldn't spin. I have no caltracs(coming this winter) or other traction control. Now I have a 408. It dyno'd 502hp and 504 lbft at the flywheel. With a 3200 stall, 4.30 gears, 28x9 slicks it now runs 11.60 @ 118mph. At 2200 feet. This is a complete street car weighing 3200lbs with me in it. I think you are going to love it either way. Hope you have as much fun with yours as I do with mine.

I'm not trying to start a safety debate here but, I don't have all the necessary safety equipment (roll bar, fire system, etc.). But i to run mostly "outlaw" tracks. And on a few occasions i have been asked nicely to leave. But for the most part nothing is ever said. I think if you keep your car under control and have most of the safety stuff you need they usually don't say anything. Now I'm not saying you don't need this stuff, Because i know i need a bar in mine. But my car is a STREET car and i don't want to chop up the interior for a bar or other safety stuff. As you stated about taking the stuff off if you couldn't enjoy it anymore i to will do the same.

that's why they have more safty rules for higher speed brackets...less chance of keeping control...
    and a car that requires a rollbar at the track, isn't a...street car...it's a Drag car that is...street legal...:yup:
i've seen street cars w/rollbars that don't run fast enough to require one at the track...POSER Drag car...:D

See, now you guys are starting to think more like i do.

If I want a drag car, I would build one, and not start with a Maverick that needs the front end cut off to put a decent motor in.

    Scooper,

You don't need to "cut the front end off" to put a different motor in it. You just have to notch the towers. This is not a big deal..........even for
    a street car.

My towers are notched, and nothing bigger than a 351 would fit, and that would be a tight fit.

OK, so why do you need anything more than a 351? A 408ci/351 can hold its own with almost anything out there......................either on the street or strip. Just putting in a "Big Block" is not going to get you that much unless you spend a lot of money to pump it up. Again, as I said before it cost's to go fast, just depends on how much money and how fast you want to go. How much are you willing to spend to "have fun" and "go fast".
At some point you WILL be forced to stay street or go drag with the car.

I also don't want to start a "safety thing", but when you build a car for the street or strip...................safety should be right up there in importance....................Kind of like why do you want disc brakes on your
car instead of drum brakes..................................I have been around racing since the 60's, and it took me seeing someone killed at a race track
to make me realize................making my car safer need to be a priority.

Out here in California (although I've been away from drag racing for some time) I don't know of any "Outlaw" strips........and even if I did I don't think I would race at them because of their safety standards. All it takes is for one person to have a serious accident at one of these "Outlaw" strips and my guess is that it would be closed permanently....real quick.
One other thing mentioned about keep this a street car, not drag race car...............is putting in a roll bar. You could easily put a roll bar in the car along(that won't cut up the inside of the car)with frame connectors...............and be able to take the bar out for the street and put it in for the strip....................IMHO

Put the damn bottle in the car. As long as you have it mounted securely with the proper bottle brackets you're fine. If you want it in the passenger compartment with you then you need to have a "blow-down" tube. This would be a tube or line that connects the blow off side of the bottle to a bulkhead fitting in the floor to vent the nitrous outside of the passenger compartment in case it pops.

A single layer jacket is all that is required once you go quicker than 11.50. Having a blower/turbo/nitrous has nothing to do with it. The tracks here in the Houston area do NOT require you to have one just because there's a bottle in the car. The safety rule is: 11.49 and quicker requires an SFI single layer jacket. No big deal. Lighter than a windbreaker and pretty cheap.

Quit thinking about it and go run the car. If it ever quits raining, that is.........

Wow, there is a face I haven't seen in forever. Been asking around town about you so I knew you were still around, just not on the mav forum.

Just got a fuel cell and need to clear out the trunk and mount the cell, my battery, and the bottle, then I will be track legal. But like you said, it needs to stop raining for a couple days so I can get out there and work on it. Going to relocate my fuel pump, most likely and re-plumb everything. So it will be a little while before I get it all back on the road. Possibly spring.

Been busy. Got custody of my youngest last February so that and his diabetes have kept me pretty damn busy. Trying to get the Mustang ready for the new season too. 300" stroker 3 valve, 10:1 compression, upping the boost on the turbos, more gear......he he he he
