i have been searching and looks like lots of people have used just the stock springs for a 302 maverick with a/c but im looking for stiffer and some people have used the 620lbs mustang springs. i just need to know from you guys like a straight answer on what springs i should use or is there a medium to it? say a 500lbs or something close? im looking to stiffen it up a lot i want it handle like a penny racer and hug the turns but still have a good drive down the highway as my daily driver. thanks guys

That's what I wanted too, and that's what I got when I installed a pair of fox Mustang GT springs. I cut out two coils to get the stance I wanted. You'll probably want to cut them at least a little even if you want stock height. I don't know the rating on these springs, but they really stiffened it up and made a dramatic difference in cornering. They don't ride harsh on average roads, feel great on the highway, but I do feel the bumps when the road gets rough...

here's a good read about suspension upgrading:
    http://www.maverickman.com/Suspension.html

You should be fine up to 650# springs. Anything over that are usually for big block applications. Make sure to be clear what springs you get. The number after the spring is usually the diameter, the pound rating should follow with a '#' symbol.

I will be going with .700 diameter 600# 67-73 Mustang 1" lowering springs. You can find them at Mustang shops. You can also get progressive rate Mustang springs, but they usually run about $200 for the pair.

    Check out these:

These are what I have, I don't like them. too tight for the car, it makes for a noisy ride.
