It is. Anything over 25 years old is considered a classic. Anything over 35 years old is considered an antique.
My take on it is,that when the Maveick came about,it was an economy car,(grocery getter)not a "sports or muscle car".
It wasnt meant to be a muscle car. Just an economy car. So in essence its old so it is a classic but not in the collector car sense. But, i think people are coming around some....
Maverick's were "mavericks" back then in the general car market. And are still "mavericks" in the resto/hot rodding scene. JMO. i hope that made sense hahaha
i don'tknow about you but i bought my mav because i loved the look of it and they look fast then i figured out that some parts are hard to come by ?? and another reason why they are not so popular is you don't see them like you see mustangs i can go for a 15 min drive and see 5 60's mustangs they are everywhere and everybody knows about them thats why they want them i never noticed a mav until about 4 years ago it was primerd i loved the look of it it is a friends uncle's car witch is fixed up very nice
I love my maverick because it looks HAWT (if put together right) is light, easy to mod, and sorta rareish, without being stupid expensive. In factory form with pizza cutters and chrome caps, a straight six with a slush box, and spartan interior, they're nothing to write home about. Even the 200 hp (on a good day) 302 with a 4 speed wasn't exactly lighting the road on fire. If the maverick had come with a 300 hp 302, top loader, 9 inch rear and raced in trans-am, they would be worth much much more today. That was what the mustang was for though, so maverick got the short end of the stick.
That varies by state. It's antique if its over 25 years old here in Arkansas... no such thing as classic
I get so many people yelling at me at red lights saying they used to have one and everythin, its still a head turner everywhere I go and it is a panty dropper too for the ladys haha so I think its a awsome car
