when i turn on my lights half of my speedometer lights go on. could it be a bad bulb or bad wiring. And is there any alternative than pulling out the whole dash. I am not looking forward to that.
This is my first car and im not knowing what to do about the electronics.

You'll have to remove the instrument cluster. Here's a couple of links that'll give you a heads up getting it out.

While you've got it out you'll be ahead of the game if you'll paint the inside of the cluster. I replaced with newer 5w5 bulbs but didn't notice an "eye opening" difference till I painted the inside. Here's another link about the lighting.

I had the same type problem w\ my Comet. I had to remove the speedo cluster and replace some bulbs; but part of the problem was the copper contacts that carry the current to the bulbs had almost 40yrs of buildup and not making gud contact. Ur going to have to remove the cluster and check out the cluster. I cleaned mine w\ fine emery paper and fine steel wool --"HANDLE CAREFULLY" the copper strips vry fragile.
There is a tech article on this forum that gives a lot of info on this process. When u remove it -- handle it vry gingerly "carefully". There are some pic's in mystuff of what the cluster looks like.

I might suggest if u remove it remove the speedo cable from the trans first; it makes removing the cluster much easier. I tried several times removing it w\o taking out the cable and cud'nt get it out -I got a tip from a guy on this forum "Jamie Miles" to remove the cable -- as soon as I took the trans cable out I was able to get some slack and pull the cable out of the speedo.
That's what worked for me. I am still appreciative of Jamie's tip.
Others may do it different -- I wud never do it again w\o takin out the cable. If you have a C4 it's most likley comes out on the drivers side of the car. Gud Luck. :dancing:
