It was great to meet everyone at the Carlisle mini meet. It's nice to put faces with names from this board. The weather was bad, but I think all had a good time. There was about 14 mavericks and once again NO COMETS !! What's up with that? I was told that the sat. night drag races were "AWSOME". Two of the mav's went and lasted a few rounds. Looking forward to the ROUND-UP, see you there. John
Yup, it was fun, tons of fun, even if it did rain on saturday. Everyone was right, it is second compared to the roundup. Got to see the 05 stangs. Saw the original mustang concept car. Met Jeff Ford and Shelby from M&F magazine, they were cool. Also saw 2 hall of famer drag racers from the thunderbolt days. Bought some parts that are rare as hens teeth too!!! I am going to make plans to go next year. Basically 3 solid days of nothing but cars, parts, food, and meeting the faces behind the names on here. On a scale of 1 - 10, it was a 10. Dan 850 miles there 834 miles back,, how did that happen?
I am glad that I came on the right day-Friday. It was nice to meet John, Dan and Wes for the first time. Oh, and Dennis, you again for the second time. I hate that I had to take off to get back. I think I have a commitment from 2 of the 5 guys that came up with me to stay until Sat. next year. I don't know about you guys, but I didn't see as many NOS parts for these cars as last year. I bought a couple of things that I needed. So, who else showed up? Maybe I can bring the lone Comet next year. Seth
We didnt think the weather could be any worse than last year, but we were wrong. I figure the laws of averages or on our side for next year. Definately worth the trip either way. We found 3 zero rust near perfect Comet hoods for less than $50 each, Comet GT grill for $30, V8 conversoion parts galore, and I pickrd up a near perfect 58 hood for my 57 Ranchero for $100. Well worth the trip. Doug is our official photographer and we cant figure how to get them out of his camera and into my computer so you'll have to wait untill he gets back home. Unless someone else has some.
dm- I didn't see any. Not NOS anyway. There were several used ones, scratched or otherwise. Ed Bennet had several NOS pieces. I bought taillights from him 2 yrs. ago along with a couple of other pieces this year. I didn't take pics as I was only there on Friday, there were only a handful of cars there at that time. Charles Stalnaker-Maverick Connection, was there, but had his black 4 door for sale in the 'for sale' section. Seth
I had a great time despite the weather. I had a successful time finding the parts I needed and I found a few things I never thought I would find. It was great meeting all of you and those of you I did not have a chance to meet I will definitely see you next year. Hopefully next year my maverick will be there.
OK ... thanks for keeping your eyes peeled! I talked to Ed Bennet last week .. He didn't have any ...
For as wet as it was last year, this year was just plain soggy. Never the less, it was terrific seeing familiar faces again and meeting new ones too. We found a few parts we needed ( a big thank you to Craig ) and some welding tools we dearly needed. The 1963 concept Mustang was cool. I have only seen pictures of it in the books I have. Didn't get to take any pictures untill Sunday when the weather cleared up some, and by then a lot of folks had pulled out for the trip back home. All in all, we had a fantastic time and can't wait to do it again next year. Right now my Maverick has over 400 miles of mud caked up underneath it. Time to get out the hose and give it a much deserved bath.
Good to see everyone. Sorry I didn't make it back on Sunday, but after being wet all day on Sat, the wife and kid were ready to go home(which is where they will be next time). The new concept Bronco was cool as was the rest of the Concept cars. I think there were more Maverick and Comet part there this year than last lets just hope the prices stay down. Russ
Maybe next year we can all outsmart Mother Nature. If we all go out and buy one of those canopy tents, Mother Nature will think " Since you all went out and spent all that money on tents, I'll fix you and not rain at all!" I forgot to add that we finally got the gas gage working on my Maverick again. After getting home Saturday night we got tired of wondering how much gas was in the tank. It took a trip to Carlisle to convince us it was time to replace the sending unit.
It was great seeing you guys!!! My car my be out there next year, we are working with a guy over there for paint. Don't know if it is going to happen yet or not but I will let you know. The Maverick's looked great and I got a few more idea's from what you guys have done. Thanks!!! Later, Shelby
