Hey all, it's been a LONG slow journey. You can see my mav in my avatar. It's got a fresh resto with fresh grabber blue paint, but an other wise shell.

This saturday I finally yanked the drivetrain from the donor car....doesn't look like it because of the red paint, but it's a ford racing crate motor with aluminum gt40 heads and a built aod with a lentech valve body

BTW I have to mention 71gold is a real nice guy. Lots of communication with him regarding my aod swap, and his aod x member is on it's way :)

Here is some of the stuff I've been picking up for it. BTW, the plan is to go efi, as I've spent a lot of time with mavdog 71 talking about it. I hate to say it, but I'm trying to get it running by may for mothers day. So due to my time restraints, I've decided to bring it up carb'd just for now. I've actually got waiting an original cobra intake, 24# injectors, a9p computer, 65mm t/b and all associated fox wiring that hasn't been converted yet. However, that will be saved for a future project.

Jaimes wonderful self designed specific maverick doug thorley shorties with a ford racing new timing cover and water pump and some bolt kits

damn this is the most exciting thing, when you get a fresh delivery!!

and the goods! Still waiting on my trans conversion x member for the aod. that's specially made by a maverick member. I'll post pics of that when it comes in too

looks good. lots of work. so wich valve covers are you going with. the tall ford racing ones will need an tall intake spacer for the upper plenum to clear them.

going with the tall ones, as they're for a carb'd engine. This will be carb'd for now. When I go efi, then I'll use the other ones

one major tip...don't spend ten grand on a resto and let it go on over 2 years :)....It's not 100% what I wanted..they gave me a one stage paint job, I wanted a two stage. It still turned out great, though could be cut and buff some..I also dropped something on the right corner panel, and gave it it's first scratch that needs to be touched up :(...I also never got the maverick fin painted, but oh well.

    It's come full circle!!

for sure I'll be showing it. Ideal would be knotts in april, but it'll be no where near ready unless I flat bed it in, and I don't want to do that.

    started off like this...

Very nice..I know the two year feeling, Whatever you do dont try and cut single stage..just buff it.

Jeremy, When you show the car will you be wearing those pink boots that are in the picture? I'd watch out for those 2 guys that claim to be helping you (Mavdog71 and 71 Gold). They're pretty bad company. Don't ask me how I know.:D
    BTW, Car looks good.:thumbs2:

it's been much more than 2 years...the dream started way back when (look at join date)..and the car went in april 06 to the shop, so it's been officially under way for 4 years now

Time flyes, but your car looks pretty darn good for 4 years.

Those to me are the best pictures, the begining of the restoration at least paint wise.
