Jeff and I are meeting........:yup:...at Summit today then going to Baby Janes for lunch...:bouncy: after that we are taking a front (small) bumper to a chrome shop to see what they will do and for how much.
Jeff and Earl have used this shop before so we are expecting good things..
we are using a "rough" looking core...they said it doesn't matter about how bent up it is, just can't have any tears (whatever that means).
we are not only looking at how nice the job is but shipping of cores to them, their shipping prices...and turn around time.

Let us know how that goes. Getting a bumper rechromed in the Tulsa area is VERY expensive. In fact, it's probably cheaper to ship it to a chrome shop that is reasonably priced. I assume that a "tear" would be a crack that would need welded.

Great!! I want to get my front/rear small bumpers rechromed.A tear is a crack or a rip in the metal, that would need welded closed, and ground flush, dressed and polished, before chroming.:)

Chromers can't guarantee what the welds will look like after chroming, as the metal (alloy) will likely be different... When I had my bumpers done, they quoted me an extra $75 per bumper to weld up the bumperette holes and stated "no guarantee" on the match (I passed).

TriCity in Tennessee does a great job. They are not cheap though. Around $250.00 per bumper.

Does that mean a pair of park benches would cost, let's see,...............$750 each or more?

You don't want to know what I spent, I got more in my bumpers than most people pay for their Mavericks. But it shows.

We have a huge swap meet every year about 15 miles from here and Bumper Boyz come from California, every year, after I called everywhere for prices they were by far the cheapest and they brought them to the swap meet free no freight,I know some people say they aren't the best, but I figured if they unwrap them and I don't like them,I could tell them to keep them,I was VERY pleased with the chrome( I don't know how they would hold up on a driver in the salt) The front one is a little thin,(I tell people I had it acid dipped for weight!)But for a fair weather street car,I'm happy,I gave them two cores, the rear had bumper guard holes and they didn't care,I paid about 550.00 for the pair (2009),Jack

Your bumpers would look 100% better painted with some silver spray paint. They are to chrome as US Body is to fibeglass.
