The only way I know of is to compare it to a known iron or another steel gear. The steel gears are completely smooth. The iron gears have rough cast surfaces other than the machined areas of the gear.
ok ill check that out, what will i need if its the right disturb for my car like what else am i going to need electrical wise
you will need a duraspark box, coil, and a harness from a duraspark equipped car. it is a easy hook up.
is there a decent aftermarket brand that provides some gogo juice for cheap? does the my comet have the duraspark stock?
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-850610/ this is the cheapest aftermarket box that i could find that will work with that distributor.
the factory gears do not interchange. this is exactly what im dealing with right now. the factory points dis in our cars has a .468 diameter shaft and ALL factory roller cam motors have a .531 diameter shaft. this is what u need http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-85833/ unless u use the 85 duraspark
ohh ok, how about a oil pan? will my stock 75 fit on the 89 motor? or any cheap oil pans out there that will fit my car and what type of coil do i need? with the 85 disturb, cuz it is the right one,
the stock 75 pan will work. you will want to use the oil pick up tube, the front timing chain cover, oil dip stick, and accessorys. for a coil you can use just about any coil out there.
would anyone suggest a hei upgrade kit for my disturb from msd?? and would it be better to get the super hei kit from msd? or a disturb upgrade,
http://www.jegs.com/p/MSD-Ignition/MSD-50L-Ford-Ignition-Kits/757313/10002/-1 is what i was looking at
you dont need those. they are for fuel injected motors anyways. you just need the msd box and coil. you may want to get a new cap and rotor, spark plugs and wires if yours are old or you dont have them.
