    Hi all,
new to the forum and I have a 71 Maverick. I put a 351 Windsor in it for a school project, and I was wanting to know a few things. What type of wprings do I need, and what car could I get them off of.And I need a new tranny kick-down lever.I already have the motor in there, got the new motor mounts & frame mounts and transmission. Here are a few pics if I can figure out how to post them.

sorry for the extremely long delay. I had to get a new computer because my old one "died" on me.

I'll try and post some more pics soon, and I'm still in the process of making some mustang headers fit :) Passenger side's done, just gotta do the driver's side:(

This is the last of the pics for now. That's all I saved to my computer. I'll try and get the rest of the pics by this weekend. Hopefullyt by the end of the summer I'll have it painted and get the interior redone.

Oh yeah, a description of the car. it's a 71' originally had a 200 and a/c. Took the windsor out of a 76 truck, and put a bigger cam and the performer intake on it. c4 tranny, and we're swapping to 5 lug drums. I know its by far nothing special, but I just needed to see what everyone thought about it.

I did a 351w swap in my '71 over 4 years ago. My car was originally a 250cid car, I swaped to a mild 302 for a few years using the stock front springs and later to the 351w..still using the stock springs. The car drives great and both the front and back tire/fender gaps are the same. If you need any more info let me know

did you have to switch up to a mustang II front end? Ive got a 71 comet with the 250 6 cyl in it... i imagine you had to swap up for new motor mounts too?

My front end is completly stock. As for motor mounts..I broke one while using the 302 and tried about 4 or 5 different suppliers trying to find one that worked as a replacement...but none would fit properly. So I used a hacksaw and removed the pin that holds the mount together and repalced it with a doublenutted bolt. The motor stays put no matter what I do with it and, as a bonus, still has the rubber mount to absorb any vibrations. I used the same stock 302 mounts with the 351w.

It is a very tight fit. I barely touched to towers...mostly I tapped the headers to fit. I used 302 Hooker headers and tapped them with a body hammer(to expand..not dent the tubes to fit. Its not pretty..but it has run a 12.27...but just imagine how quick it might be with good headers. I've been looking and have ordered a few that the "experts" say will fit...but I don't see it..not yet anyway. It took about 50 trial fits to get what I have.
