Hi guys, I like the look of bigger lights on the rear of my mav, but not sure which ones look the best! As I'm over here in England it makes it harder to picture them too.

Sooo......... can as many of you with different tail lights post pics of them on so I can try and decide which ones to source in your big ass country for my rear?!! Am planning a trip over in the near future so will try and get bits for my car at the same time!

    Ta, TC.

...Got the idea from Jamie Miles, who got the idea from Mavaholic (I think) who has '67 Impala lights on his Sprint. (Same as these, but with a white reverse light in the middle, kinda like Bobcat lights.)

For extra points, make 'em blink sequentially like a Cougar! I did it using relays, Jamie has some kinda fancy solid state device that's probably better...

Is there a lot of cutting involved? I was thinking about the bobcat mod that I've seen on here.

Yes, I had to jigsaw the hell out out of my tail panel and go mad with the drill. All I can say is measure twice and then measure again.

Comets have the best looking lights for the rear. They are perfect in every way.

Yes, I was feeling a bad case of Comet envy when I did that, it really plagues my every waking moment.

    Hi Paintank:
Ditto ! I think the Comet has the best setup for improvements also. We converted the taillights to FOUR tail and brake lights on several of the club Comets and by some creative cutting of a "donor" taillight set and some new light plugs. The back up lights then were installed in the rear valance ala 1968 Mustang . The look is clean, and provides a much more visible light when using the turn signals, or braking . I have a Maverick also , and the best I can do with that is to clean up the lenses and brighten the interior of the light cage. Whadayathink ?:) Cometized

And that really was the initial reason I started looking to mod my taillights in the first place, honestly. I don't know if it's the design or just the old lenses, the housings, the bulbs or what, but after cleaning and then replacing my stock Maverick taillights they were still just too dim. I thought it was in my head until my wife complained about it.
