I am trying to decide on the color combo for the Mav. I won't be painting it for quite some time, however I will need to spray the engine compartment within the next few months. So I have come up with two distinctly different looks.

The first: I saw this combo online on a resto mod 68 Mustang. I really liked the cool ice blue look of both colors.

The second: This is the same combo I painted my brother in laws Factory Five Cobra. A real classy look for sure. In the pics it looks more brown than it really is. It is actually Ford Sterling Gray from 2008.

So which do you guys like?? Not that it will really sway me one way or another, I am just really curious. So no need to tell me that it's my car and I should paint it the way I want! The car is going to be my daughters' car when they are old enough to drive, however I will get a few years of enjoyment before handing over the keys.

I like the Sterling Gray, It's not a color that I ever really liked, but my wife's Escape is that color, and it's been growing on me.
    Is that water borne paint?

Yes it is. PPG Envirobase with DC4000 clear.

I agree about the Sterling gray. Driving down the highway I see it all the time and it never really struck me. But on my brother in laws Cobra the color is just so rich looking.

I like the classy look the sterling gray (brown tone) gives off.

Hot Rod magazine has declared that "Brown is the new Black".

Look for a lot more brown cars out there now ...

I like both combos that you show, Sterling Gray a bit more.

I know that in the picture the Sterling grey looks fairly brown. I think that is more from the lighting than anything else.

Here is a picture of those colors on the Cobra I painted for a better reference.

And here is where I found the blue combo:

I love blue, so I'm a little partial.

Great job on the Cobra! I think I have found my point of contact when I start to do (try) some painting myself! ;)

Brown with gold stripes (like what that picture leans toward) is pretty cool ... look up the new TerraCuda that has been designed by Chip Foose.

Funny thing is that I also just saw a picture of this car over-exposed in bright outdoor lighting where it looked awful.

Personally I think on that car they work. I wouldn't put them on my Mav. though.
