windshield post ?

    srry no pics but has anyone seen a windshield post crack or do they rust through spot is about half way up the windshield

    The seam is filled with lead, right around the top of the windshield.

    You need to get the lead out, and see whats going on under it..sometimes they rust at the seam, and the rust pushes the lead out. Lead is somewhat not good for you, to touch, or breath. Look around the internet to see the best way to remove it.

    1972 Maverick 2 door.Original V-8 3 spd std shift.Also a 72 one owner Sprint sporting a 351 Windsor
    Melt the lead out with a torch (propane will work fine) DO NOT grind it out. The dust is quite the nasty little poison. Use a wooden paint mixing stick to trowel it out of the seam. Be certain to have plenty of ventilation while doing this. If your crack is further down the pillar grind the paint off in the area of the crack and examine to see what caused it to crack...Could be rust undermining the structure from inside or it could be a crack from fatigue (these cars are old) and the steel quality was not what it is now.
