Okay I found a 72 Grabber in a wrecking yard here in Washington state . It's a V8 car with a automatic on the floor . So came from the factory with bucket seats .Well it's in very rough shape as it has been in there for quite a few years . The inside seemed dry .I couldn't pull the carpet up to check the floors . It was a factory yellow car with brown interior .Now it's a crappy bad white paint job :-( The glass and all body panels are there . The engine is missing parts but is there .The seats were replace by a mavericks LDO interior . No major body damage . My problem is should I purchase this car ? The yard wants 550 for it .Is this kind of high my wife thinks so . Also are there a lot of parts available for this car ? I know there are very few around me.Seems all the cars that come up for sale are just to far away from me or priced high . So with a that I would love some input on what to do !!! Thanks !!!!

    Yup!...

If you are looking for a project car... Yup!... if you want something to work on... Yup!... is it too much money?... Yup!... are there any parts available?.... Yup!... any one of the remaining 2.2 million Mavericks and Comets have the same parts... not to mention the other 20 million old Fords that have swappable parts...

I spent less than $1000 for each of my two Comets - never had so much fun spending money on a hobby. One of them is a LONG WAY from being street legal and operational and has no interior and a blown transmission - but if it's the journey that counts: countless hours fixing up an old car until the day I get it on the road... is it worth it?

    Yup!:drive:

That would be great !!!! It's in spanaway on the mountain highway . Do you know what I am talking about so far ? There is a place called all auto parts . The yard used to be called Dicks you pull it .The yard hasn't been open since the early 90's . I don't have physical address .It's next to a Shell gas station . If you need more info let me know Thanks

There's no way we can help with a question like that without having some good pics to judge by. I say if it's restorable, yes, parts car, probably not unless you think you could sell enough parts to at least get your money back.

Reminds me of a 74 grabber that came in the pick pull last year, complete running V-8 with air perfect body no rust just needed a little interior work and paint and i passed it up due to no space, Ive regreted it ever since.

 Are there really 2.2 million Mavericks and Comets remaining? I can't find any operational or in a junkyard here in Utah. Just my 2 cents.

I think he means the remaining of the 2.2 million there were... But that statement makes it sound alot more promising then it really is.

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
If it had the Hood and Spoiler that alone is worth the $550.

If it was me, for the price, I'd probably take the chance. If you're willing to put lots of time and money into it, go for it! (I would! (y))

At the same token, it may be worth it to part it out. You could put the extra money towards a nicer one! ;)

Sounds like you need to get it if there is not a lot of rust...after all "The hood and spoiler are there" and if in good condition you can get what you spend out of the hood if need be, PLUS it's one more Maverick back on the road....and thats the best thing about it!!:D
