My GT Passed saftey and is now insured and am driving around. Im paying $260 a month but its worth it. All i need now is the gt hood painted to match the new paint on the rest of the car and it will be ready for street wheelers.

$260 a month? Are you guilty of vehicular homicide?

    $260 month

Unless you are on like your 3rd DUI - check out Hagerty Ins. No relation to them other then I know they offer good coverage for classic cars and they have great rates for heavily modified engines.

There's some geographical background necessary here. In Alberta your insurance premium is based on your driving record rather than the type of vehicle you drive. So if you're under 25 or you've got a couple moving violations, you're basically screwed.

Hey all, I just got my Mav back from the tranny shop, I had the valve on the inside of the shifter lever come off of, so it was stuck in Low 1 (FMX Tranny), and I called last week to get insurance on it added to my policy. I'm 25, newly married, super clean driving record (here in AR they look at your moving violations also), only claim I've filed is on my S10, when someone decided to "borrow" my stereo, and tore my dash up trying to get the CD player out, and my rates for my Mav are $120 every six months..... roughly $20 per month.

I dig it, considering we pay $420.00 every six months for my wife's '02 Explorer.

FYI, classic car insurers will not touch a 16 year old in canada who's classic is their primary transportion.

You should be glad you are not in New Jersey as they say. I am paying more for my maverick with regular insurance then my 4x4 Toyota pick-up and that is with full coverage and I am 27 with no violations:confused: . I did not bother with the classic insurance because around here a short trip to the autoparts store with classic tags and insurance will get you a ticket:mad: . Just not worth it with some one telling me the only time I can pull my car out of the garage is to take it to a car show. I love my car and I want to enjoy it! I hate New Jersey!!!!

NJ MAVERICK, there's a trick you need to learn, there are cruise nights just about everynight in the Somerville area, not sure if you know that, check out this page http://www.njcarshow.com/?p=1 If you get stopped, tell them you were on your way to whatever show is that night, we don't get harrassed up this way, but I have QQ's and reg. insurance, I just wouldn't drive the car around the same area everynight

In our area in Ohio they just don't seem to pay much attention to the old cars when it's nice out i put around a lots of days with our cars never been stoped yet wife keeps telling i'm going to get it sometime got the heavy foot problem a lot. I keep telling Susan i'm old they think i'm in my 2nd childhood and don't bother.

Umm yea, your paying way to much, check out Nationwide Mutual Fire Insurance Company. I insure my 70 mav $70 month, 73 mav $80 month (302) and 80 Yamaha XT500 motorcycle $73/year through them, all I have is liability but the price to insure the mav hasn't changed much since I was 16. Not sure why the motorcycle insurance is so cheap, maybe because if I am in a wreck I won't live to put in a claim, lol.

    Laugh at this one.
When I got the Comet GT back in Feb. '84, my Dad asked me to pay for
the first 6 months insurance. It was liability only on his policy with me as
    the driver. $64 every 6 months-and I complained. I pay $100 a month now
for full coverage and I'm 36!
