...i installed another dome light switch...it is wired through the parking/headlights to a (radio shack) buzzer....when i open the door with the lights on it makes a connection and buzzes...
i bought a small buzzer some yrs back at wal-mart for like 3 bucks that was designed just for this..... just never got around to putting it in
I bought the same one and put it in my Honda. It worked GREAT! Under $5.00 .. it was in the fuse and light bulb section .............
...and if you want to break yourself from the habit of leaving them on...wire it to your horn... ......
I use to install them about 20 years ago. Its a little black box with a light and alarm. Takes minutes to hook up. Something along the lines of this product. http://store.autospeed.com/Items/14450?&caSKU=14450&caTitle=Headlight Reminder
Thanks guys! i like the idea of the lil' black box. . .think i will look into that. that can be installed with a hammer . . .right?
The circuitry is easy to do. A buzzer getting power from the light switch and the ground from the ignition terminal on the ignition switch through a diode. When you shut the engine off the power from the ignition turns into a ground through the ignition system and the buzzer goes off. When you turn the lights off it goes off. Driving with the lights off won't set it off because of the diode.
I wonder if there's anything that is more of a chime or a "ding" instead of that brain-drilling buzz......
