I've got to order my tires through my supplier by tomorrow afternoon to get them by this weekend but I'm still a little mixed on what sizes to order. My 70 is running 68 Mustang styled steel wheels (14 x 6 I think). I was running a 60 series before but I am thinking about a 70 series this go around. I guess a 195/70/14 in the frt and maybe a 215/70/14 or 225/70/14 in the rear.

Does anybody have any pics of either of these rear sizes on a Maverick so I can get a better idea of which to get? Any other recommendations? I've done a bunch of searches here but haven't come up with much. :tiphat:

here's some shots from my 4 door. 225/70/14 on the front and 275/70/15 on the rear. to avoid tire rub probably be safer to go 255 unless you want to roll the fender lip. rims are 8" with 4 1/4" backspace. good luck

I was hoping someone had an actual picture of their Maverick (from the rear or side) with a 215/70-14 on the read so I could get an idea of what it looked like. When I did a search I saw several threads...but no pics.

This is a pic of my car in the early 80s with F-70 14s on the rear and D-70s (I think) on the frt...that's the look I'm going for. From what I've read on the Vintage Mustang Forum, a F-70 14 is replaced by a 215/70-14.

I.M.O -- a 215 tire will look very skinny in the rear wheel well. are you staying with the stock rims or getting aftermarket? that would determine wheel size. 215 is the biggest i would safely put on a stock rim.

Here's 245/60R14 on the back of mine. I want bigger tires out back but these are the biggest I can find for a 14" wheel.

I have the '68-'69 argent styled steel wheels with the red GT centers on my red Comet GT. They look just like the wheels in your picture with the white Maverick. Just installed P215/R/70 BFG's on the front and P225/R/70 BFG's on the back. You can't really go much fatter tires on it and still have the 14X6 original wheels. Mine look great and fit inside the fender well with no rubbing. I have the same setup, only with magnums on one of my '69 Cougars. The other Cougar has P225/70's all the way around on factory '69 Cougar styled steel wheels. 225/ 70's are a good size for these vehicles.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention my back wheels are 7" wide. The fronts are 6" and I have 225/60R14 on them.

Got my Firestones ordered this morning...opted for the 215s & 195s. The 215s were quite a bit cheaper than the 225s. Yeah I'm a cheapskate! :yup:
