Hello everybody, my name is Anthony and I'm soon going to purchase a 71 200ci maverick. I've been a Volkswagen guy since I started getting interested in cars, and always had a thing for old mustangs, bel airs, el caminos, and mavericks. Long story short, I have a 71 VW super beetle that I got cheap, built an engine, fully wired from scratch per the diagrams, brakes, rebuilt, etc. I've been back and forth on wether to keep it or sell it, and while cruising junk yards found a BRIGHT mint green ,no rust, 71 maverick for $850, fired right up after a jump, idled like a dream. Slight hesitation, and little backfire, paint needs redone, but them's the fun parts right? Bug is now up for sale for $1600, and fingers are crossed the mav will be there when the super is sold. What are some good threads to check out, I know air-cooled VW's like the back of my hand, but am all new to fords. Mainly I'm interested in wiring diagrams, engine builds, interior restoration, timing/ carb tuning, etc.

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks everyone, and yes, the Bug is up for sale on the modesto craigslist cars/trucks for sale section. Are there any sites or threads showing an engine teardown/rebuild for these I6 engines?

If this site cannot provide you with the info you need, then someone will direct you to someplace that will. Mavericks and Comets are not easy cars to restore. There are not many repopped parts. But if you have patience and ability, then you can pretty much do anything with these cars.
    Welcome to the site.
