8.8" rear end

    anyone know a good place i can find an 8.8" 5 lug? preferably used?

    I would guess a wrecking yard in a Late model Mustang or Explorer.

    are these direct bolt on parts?
    just as long as i dont have to have anything shortened or anything.

    No. The 8.8" is not a direct bolt in for the Mavs/Comets.

    i know that the brackets to mount the springs onto have to be cut off and re welded, but does the housing have to be shortened?

    Ranger (1991 - ???) 8.8 is: 56.25"
    Explorer (1997 -???) 8.8 is: 59.5"

    And this 8" is ok to run 400 ponies through?
    i have a 73 302 car with an 8" in it....maybe i can just use that rear end....

    from what i have heard will hold to 500 hp

    mine is still the stock case and all and so far its holding but im not bitting real good so its doing all right...this setup is what i will go to when its time
