    Hi,

I'm currently doing my research into importing a Maverick over to sunny Scotland! I'm looking for something that has a lot more presence than my MR2 turbo and think the Maverick does that! I'm currently in the process of fixing my standard MR2 to sell then I'm ready to buy!

I've never seen a Maverick in the flesh in the uk and I've never imported a car before, so any hints, tips or advice regarding the Maverick, I'd be very grateful!

    Cheers

    Caroline

i found my car in sweden.
with the help of the google translator i was able to navigate through the websites. annonsborsen.se, smallblock.dk, classiccars.se and blocket.se are good starting points. so is finn.no, but norway is not in the european union, so customs will have to be paid, too.

if the car in my link is double your budget, it won't be easy to find one. i paid roughly 5k€, and have to do a total restoration. take a car of up to 3k$ in the states - which will be in a decent state, but nowhere near mint condition. with 1-2k$ shipping and handling plus customs will easily add up to 5k€.

Through the currency convertor I used that one came back at almost £9k (~$12k US)! Maybe wrong though! From what I could see its of similar spec of those aroundthe £3-4k mark from the US, you also have the better weather, less rust issue! I have a friend who works for a company that imports so should get a good deal on that. But I am looking to spend around the £5k mark all in.

If any brits that have imported can remember what they required to have sorted to pass the IVA (SVA) and how much it cost them roughly, would be grateful for input!

    Thanks
