I bought a 351w from a guy that runs a junkyard. He says it came from an 83 ford truck. I took it part today and the rod caps had c9oe stamped on them. I was wondering if they were 69 model rods

The numbers aren't stampings. They're forged into the rod. C9's are correct for 351W rods for those years. I don't know if Ford ever replaced these rods in production with newer forgings. They did with the 302's in the early 90's, replacing the C8OE rods with F1 or 2 TE's. Look at the date code on the block, next to the casting numbers. Number/Letter/Number.

the original 351 w rods had oil squirt holes drilled in them from the factory ( to keep the wrist pins lubed) later model rods the holes were not drilled. Check the block to see what year.
