I just had my 77 maverick (302) in the muffler shop. I looking to have them install them. Once they had the exhaust manifold, they said it was to tight to get it in. Is that normal that its suppose to be that tight?

To get the drivers side header on you have to remove the motor mount bolt and raise the engine a few inches. Hopefully you don't have PS or column linkage.:)

A search for Maverick Headers would reveal this:

There are also a lot of threads devoted to the header subject.

Got to raise the engine up as far as possible to get headers in from the bottomside. Hedmans go in like butter this way.

Thanks mercgt73, I know how to use the search but I was looking for a specific answer for my specific car bc I couldn't find anything on my year and wanted to make sure.

If you have p/s you will need a drop bracket.

Yup, p/s cars have to have the drop bracket for the steering cylinder to clear the headers

Shouldn't make a difference.Summit sells them also, and I've seen them used on the 6901's.It's just a plain bracket.
