Fill out a freedom of information act form and by law they have to tell you.

More importantly, you either need to take the fine on this one, or MAKE time to get it finished up within there specifications before the timeline ends.
You may loose this battle, but live to fight another day. Win the war ;)

Well in my opinion you need to have a friendly and polite discussion with the one you think is accusing you. Nothing wrong with being neighborly and knocking on the door to say hello and a brief chat:cool:, if its not them maybe they can tell you who they think it is. It would be my belief that if they have vehicles around like that they SHOULD have had run ins with enforcement as well:rolleyes:.

As far as the tags and title keep in mind that in order for enforcement to cite you it normally has to be "seen from public property" meaning car could be positioned to where the tags weren't visible. Even a "blue tarp" is concidered a "car cover" to some. And is perfectly legal even if it so happens to cover the tags up:dancing:.

Oh and IMO taking off mufflers is just going to make other neighbors upset with you, you want majority on your side not enemies.

Post your citation word for word please. And possibly a website for county reference if available.

Its all about the grey area in the codes, same as the "rule book" in your local drag racing class. LOL

X3 on doing this, for future reference ;)

I had a problem with storing my fathers car before I put up a fence. I went down and spoke with the code people and they gave me more time to get in compliance. If the person who made complaint gave their name you can get a copy of the report at their office but not on the phone. Good luck and get a car cover.

I know a VW guy who put up a redneck fence made with a blue and brown tarps, poles and boards sticking out at all kinds of angles and heights and guy wires holding it up. It was more of an eye sore than his 2 VW's. Police came out again and said as long as the cars were not seen from the street nothing could be done because he did what the law said needed to be done. His neighbor’s wish they kelp their mouth shut.

Absolutely. I have had a few letters from my HOA. It's amazing the authority they think they have and how tough they'll talk when they can hide behind anonymity.

Somewhere in my neighborhood, I have someone who needs to mind their own business. The kind of complaints they make are silly. I'm not disturbing anyone, nothing I do is visible from the street, (nor usually visible from anywhere) nor loud. Somebody just doesn't like me. If I so much as park a car with one wheel on the grass in the alley behind my house on the right day, I can expect a tough-talking letter form the HOA, (although I am about the only one on that alley who doesn't park something on the grass regularly.) I get letters that say things like "WORKING ON CARS IS NOT ALLOWED!!!" ...You would have to be literally staking my place out to know I work on cars. I am that discreet about it. Yeah, I understand the need for covenants, but this is not an apartment complex, my name is on the damn deed, and what I do in my garage in the back of the house with the door down is not affecting anyone's property values.

Daysleeper Harley Guy up the street doesn't get letters. Sidewalk Riding Crotch Rocket Burnout Guy 'round the corner doesn't get letters. No letters for the Midnight Pitbull Choir behind me, and if they can call a tagged and insured, legally parked showroom-clean 1977 Lincoln behind my house an eyesore then there are a couple neighbors' choice of aftermarket wheels I'd like to talk to somebody about.

But ya know what - I don't. I mind my own business. If one of 'em ever does piss me off enough to say something, then I have the gonads and the common decency to go knock on a door, unlike my anonymous passive-aggressive nemesis.

The real tragedy is whomever this is, it's not someone who's bothered to become acquainted with me. Somebody has this idea that I'm some kind of a menace, but I'm the model of a perfect neighbor. I've pulled their cars out of ditches, fixed their plumbing, mowed their yards, fixed their roofs and never asked for anything. Nobody in that neighborhood who's bothered to talk to me, or even ask another neighbor about me, would be doing this. If I knew who the gutless bastard was I could probably make it stop with nothing more than a kind word and a handshake.

I guess i am fortunate. I had my car up on jack stands for 4 or 5 months a while back. No plate on it ( it was and is liscenced and insured). I've not had any problem with code enforcement. I have also taken all my neighbors for rides aropund the block , show what I'm doing etc.
A guy with an old Nova (also right in the city) has had code guys after him. Who knows, I guess I'm just an upstanding citizen. LOL

My neighbor has called the law to me for cutting donuts in my own field. The law pulled up in the yard and said there was a complaint about a red ford ranger cutting donuts, I said yep there it sits. Of coarse he laughed when he realized I wasnt in the road ,not drinking and in my field. He said becareful and have fun.

These are the same neighbors that has a dog kennel so I get to hear 20 barking Golden Retrievers. Whats so bad is they burn the dog crap about once a week. Burning dog sh$t stinks. We cannot have the windows up in the house these days because it is so bad. I have never said a thing about them burning even during the no burn months.

Makes me glad I live out in the country. Always have, always will. No codes to go by, no home owners assoc to gripe. My neighbors are all family, and have put up with my hobby for 31+ years. Even the times I have cranked up a newly built engine at midnight with open headers! Ya'll that have to live in towns and cities with all the BS, I feel for you. My name is on my land deed, and I am the only one that has to be happy. If they were to ever try to enforce some stupid codes on me, I guess I would have to move to my other property, about 5 miles away. There isn't a city limit within 8 miles of it, so it will be safe a while!

Go to the city offices or court house and ask at the help desk where you can get one. Since every city has different places to get forms at, that's the best I can tell you.

I had a similar problem with my neighbor. I had 2 cars & a pickup truck parked in front of my house, next to the fence. The city I live in, came to my house to see if I had them tagged. The one car is a parts car, the pickup didn't run (blown motor). None of them tagged. They were trying to tell me I had to have them in the back yard without tags. I asked them why? They said the neighbor complained. I said, why are you even here? This is a private road & the city has nothing to do with it. We the homeowners, take care of the street (not the city). They were in awe. They told me they would go back & check the records. They would get back to me. Never heard from them again.... That should teach the neighbors. Bet they were furious... I'm down to just one parts car at the street now... All they had to do, was come talk to me...
