I just purchased a Tuff Stuff 70 amp alternator from Summit. It is a one-wire model made specifically made for ford cars so it should bolt right on without any modification. I am not sure which of the wires I am supposed to use as the new alternator didn't come with a new wire. I have a couple of questions though...

    1) Which wire do I use and if I wanted to buy a new wire what type would I buy?

    2) Which part of the starter solenoid do i hook the one wire to (left side, right side, left front, or right front)?

I wouldn't use anything smaller than 8 gauge,( and dont crimp the ends on, use solider rosin core) Hook to the side of the solenoid the + battery cable hooks to.

If you are using an ammeter you need to run the wire (10 AWG) from the battery terminal on the alternator to your ammeter wire. If you are running the indicator light then run the wire to the battery side of the solenoid.
NOTE: using a 60 amp alternator with a 70 amp alternator is a fire hazzard - make sure your ammeter is large enough for your alternator.

Not sure what you mean by ammeter? I am not planning on runing the indicator light. I am not sure what the stock alternators amp is but the one i purchased was a 70 amp. Not sure what to do here???
