My son and I just installed 6901 Headers on his 71. Running a 1991 5.0 with a T-5 transmission. His car is manual steering. The headers hit his driver side frame rail and his drop steering arm hits at a full right turn. We adjusted his drag link so that he can almost get full right turn which in turn shortens his left turn ability. We have tried to reposition the motor put it looks as though it is pretty much where it needs to be. Any sugestions as to what we can do to remedy the situation? Thanks!

Modify the headers so that they clear the other components. Modifying the components will cause problems in your handling and may make the car dangerous.

I just installed my 6901s today, after I cut off the goofy U-shaped tube. Very good fit. If it wasn't for the clutch z-bar adaptor on the 5.0 block and 2 head studs (instead of bolts) I wouldn't have had to put any dings in them. Not sure why yours would hit the frame. Maybe measure to see if the engine is centered in the bay. My old Blackjack headers interfered with the steering link, a 1/2" spacer between the motor mounts and block solved that.

    Made on Monday

I think it is like Blown 5.0 said - mine were made on Monday. They work and are on the car. We live south of the border and had no way of returning them. My son is now back stateside with the car - we will see how they last and if the frame rubbing becomes a greater issue.

I converted to manual steering & my pitman arm hits the header tube on a left turn on my 6901's. It definitely limits my turning ratio. That is the only fitment issue I had with mine. (y)

My 6901s contact with both the idler arm and pitman arm on my 74 with converted manual steering. I lose at least 3/4 turn of the wheels on each side. I suppose I will notch the arms and pound in the header tubes. I have AFR heads and the may be slightly beefier.
