Just put the rebuild 250 in my 74 Comet and need help with the vacuum system. There is a charcoal canister below and on top of that is another canister. Is this a vacuum canister? It seems like it's missing a valve for lines to hook up to. Does anyone have schematics and what valve is supposed to be in the top canister??

    Thanks,
    Tim

My 6cyl had 2 canisters. The blue one is for emissions and there is no vacuum to that. A line from the top of the fuel tank goes to the blue canister and I believe the fuel vapors go to that. I got rid of that.
There is a charcoal colored coffee can looking thing that has 2 nipples. That one is like a reservoir of vacuum so that when you floor it and there is no vacuum from the engine you still have some vacuum, or at least that's how I understand it. That one has a vacuum going to it from the intake and the other vacuum line goes to the the little vacuum cluster through the firewall if I remember correctly.

    Thanks

I will look at it when I get home. If I don't need the one I'll take it out, but what did you do with the vent line to the fuel tank? Did you just leave it on the firewall??
    Thanks Again!!

I left it open but you are supposed to put something on it like an old fuel filter or something.
