Thinking of these 17" mach 1 replica wheels for my build. They have just a scooch more of a machined lip (5.9 as comp to 5.72) which I like compared to std mach rims. Can they work? Here's the demensions: 5.9 backspace +24mm offset 5 x 4.5 bolt First pic is from there site on a stang.. look like they might work as compared to the second pic which is the 17" bullitt/thrust style, currently out there. But I dunno about that backspace. I'd like to lower and do the radius pie cut for the fenders also so I wonder will it work?
if I run spacers, how far out will the tire stick out from the fender? I kinda would like that to be flush.
If you get the right spacers it should fit perfectly in the fender. I'm not sure on the exact size spacer you need, but I plan on doin something similar except with stock '05 Mustang GT wheels.
Those wheels have the same offset as the bullitt wheels. http://www.wheelhq.com/mustang-black-machined-mach-1-17x9.html http://www.wheelhq.com/mustang-black-bullitt-17x9.html A bunch of guys here have those(bullitt's), maybe they'll share what spacers they used.
I wish someone sold the cobra R's in the proper backspacing Texas mustang also sells the bullitt one's with the backspacing for old fords.
Simple task but it's going to cost you. 1st what size is the 17 wheel? Example 17x9 or 17x8. Next 5.72 inches of backspacing is to much. You will need around 4.50 inches. If it's a 17x9 you can have 1 inch taken out or 1.5 inches taken out, that will put you at 17x8 or 17x7.5 on the front. This way you do not need spacers(safe way if you are a spirited driver). If you want to use spacer you will need between a 1.188 and 1.250 inch spacer but I can't tell you if that is going to sit the rim just right so the car can be lowered. This size spacer will allow you to munt the rim to your car. Tire size also plays a big part in this. How wide and tall the tire is. I hope this helps.
Thanks streetrod. They say the size is 17x9 -5.9bsp with a +24mm offset.... I dunno...maybe a little too modern and too much hassle eh? I might go a different route American Racing has there AR 500 magnum replica that looks great, and is cheaper than some of the Billet 17's. AR has them in all standard sizes of the old magnums plus some custom applications...I photochoped 'em on a Mav and they look pretty hot, but also pricey at $338.99 per wheel. Alot better though than $580.00 a wheel for the billet ones. I just was considering these "modern" mach 1's for the price..$149.00 per wheel.
I had a set of the billets ones at one point and time.....I sold them for what I had in them......the flash caught my eye....but it ulimately was the reason i sold them.....to flashy for the car that was n my head
FastMav, can you post a picture of the photoshop you did with the AR magnum 500 replica? I'd love to see it.
