The night before there was a MASSIVE blizzard. The carb on my car wasn't tuned right, along with bad battery cables and -30 celcius temps. Some douche slammed on his breaks in front of me, I tapped mine and slid into a 3 foot snow bank, car stalled and wouldn't start. I had to leave it there overnight on the side of the road while the blizzard blew snow up under the car and into my engine bay. The pic shows the bay AFTER we cleared a bunch of snow. It was a sad day. But my dad got it going again, cleaned the spark plugs, adjusted the carb and I went out and bought new battery cables. Haven't had much of a problem since.
Well, as far as Driving in Winter goes, I have driven the mav all winter, I Enjoy having rear will drive in the snow... It makes Donuts SO MUCH MORE FUN!!! Especially in Abandonned Mall Parking Lots... As far as the actual engine goes, It's tempermental but in an of it's self, other than needed a new exhaust manifold and a changed of gaskets, it's fine. Recently I have noticed alot of black grime around my engine(almost like old oil) which I'm guessing is coming from the seals, I thought this was from the lighter weight oil I was running for winter, and to help clear it out some... I'm switching back to 10w30(or 5w30 I can't even think right now ) as soon as I can, but even that is an adventure since I gon't have blocks, so I basically have to do it on an Uphill, LOL. I've just been putting it off because I don't want to change top oil and 3 days later rip the engine out. The problem is with my transmission!!! I'm not sure if the clutches are worn out, or what, but it doesn't engage right away, and after driving for a little while(after the trans gets "warmed up" about 10 miles or so, It starts slipping, Not while driving, but if I stop at a red light, it won't re-engage and I have to drop it down into second or sometimes even first to get it to re-engage. The price to rebuild one would be something like 750 dollars+ in town, which is rediculous when I could find another for 75-150 dollars... but changing it requires tools, etc etc... Which if I DO go that route, Justin said he has one I could but, and he lives like 3.5 hours west... So I'd have to figure out either A, how to get my car there, or B how to go and pick it up, then take both it AND my car the hour and a half north of lexington to Mavs place... I'm just trying to figure all of it out, but needless to say... It's a pain in the butt! LOL.
well if you do decide to grab the cheap trans from raymond, we can throw it in that day and you will beable to drive home, thats IF your car can make it here.
Yeah, I think I might get the radiator, put that in, and see how much difference it makes... then go from there... It's probably what needs to be taken care of first... I think I'm just going to rebuild the 6... I don't know, been trying not to think about it, LOL. Will let you know of my decision in a day or so...
Whoever posted the coupon site for autos in the vendor links is my Hero!!! I am ordering my new radiator today since advance has a 15% off everything you order with the code W615... Plus free shipping soi I'm getting my new raditaor for about 115 dollars... Which is AWESOME!!! So, I THINK* I've decided to keep the straight 6, but I know I need to replace all the gaskets etc etc... Should I just get a complete gasket kit? Also, If I am keeping the 6, I still need a new exhaust manifold for it... Anyone have an extra laying around for cheap? =D
