    Hi All,

Found a Maverick Grabber in the local junkyard. We snagged the glovebox assembly to replace the shelf in the Comet. There may be some other parts that are rare or desired. I noticed there is a cowl brace that is cut out for the power steering master cylinder. Is this a valuable piece? Mikey is happy with the non power disc conversion but maybe somebody else may want it. Any ideas of what I should be looking for that somebody might need?

I'd definitely snag the braces. If its an 8 then take the belly bar, trans crossmember, Z-bar linkage if its manual. It doesn't have bucket seats does it?

Grab the spoiler if it is still there. Bucket seats, or at least the tracks. That brace only works with a factory power brake set up.

If it has a glovebox from the factory (not aftermarket), that should be a 73 or later car. You can adapt it to an earlier shelf-type dash, but the lower corners are different. (I did this myself a long time ago, and recently switched back to a shelf, again.) It really will look better if you grab the matching upper dash, too.

I think it is a 75. Know it is a V8, but the rear end is gone. I think we would have noticed if it had disks in the front; you can't find ANY Granadas with front brake parts any more.

I got sick and couldn't return to the yard. It's the Pick-A-Part in Sun Valley California, if anyone is interested. The 250 six runs so well we aren't thinking of the V8 swap and I don't have the money to collect parts in case somebody might want them. This yard is pricey, costs 35 bucks and change for the glove box. They pieced it out and charged for "dash pad" "glovebox" and 2 "ducts."

The glove box assembly fit kinda Ok but the vents are square instead of round and there really isn't any room for a proper glove box, maybe a couple of inches deep. Car has air conditioning and the evaporator takes up a lot of room.

Yeah ... in an A/C car, the "glovebox" lives up to it's name.

If you do not have air, the insert from a non-A/C car is a bit bigger, but not much.

"Dash Pad" doesn't sound right at all ... sounds like they didn't know what to call the lower dash, so they just picked something. After all, how many other cars have a set-up like this?

Apparently the yard has a whole list of stuff in the computer database and they try to put as much on the bill as they can. Bothers me to get a printed out invoice like i was ordering some high tech computer parts. I like the "other" low rent or rather lower rent yard where the prices are on the wall. We snagged a whole door for my bro's Z car for the same price as this glovebox thingie. This yard would have pieced it out as "door outside panel, inside pannel, door kock, door handle, window frame window regulator, etc." Probably over a hundred for the door.

We're keeping the six. If mikey wants to go fast he can get out of school and earn the money for a fast car hisself. The Comet is a local area only vehicle, not a freeway flyer.
